Iphone Prodam: Three Different Techniques to Unlock an Iphone

September 30th, 2008
Nathan Rossiter asked:

There seems to be a lot of confusion around the iPhone 3G, and how to unlock it. There are tons of websites claiming/misleading that they can unlock the iPhone 3G with a software solution - they cant! There is no software unlock available yet for the iPhone 3G, anywhere!

No matter what your friend says, or what that website claims to do - it is impossible to Unlock an iPhone 3G with software. There is however a hardware SIM unlock for the iPhone 3G - it’s just as easy to install, doesn’t require any modding of your iPhone or SIM card and it works with all firmware versions. - I will talk more about this method later on, need to explain some more about the software unlock while we’re still on that topic.

You can currently “Jailbreak” your iPhone 3G with the software, the same software you would use to unlock your 1st generation iPhone will be able to Jailbreak your iPhone 3G. Jailbreaking your iPhone simply allows you to install your own 3rd party applications onto the iPhone. This process is reversible, so don’t worry if you mess anything up. Here are a couple of guides, the first on How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G and the second, Revirginize iPhone 3G (if you need to restore your iPhone 3G to factory settings).

In order to unlock any iPhone with software, it must first be Jailbroken - to allow you to install and modify the code on your iPhone 3G to unlock it. Please don’t be tricked into thinking there is a software unlock for the iPhone 3G, because there isn’t- the second the software unlock becomes available for the iPhone 3G you will be able to see it, and download it at Unlock iPhone 3G’s iPhone 3G Software Unlock Status page. If you see any website offering the software unlock for the iPhone 3G before it’s announced at Unlock iPhone 3G - then it’s 99% a scam, walk away.

Now… back to the hardware SIM unlock for the iPhone 3G. Basically this little device slots in your iPhone (in the same way your current SIM card does), and allows you to use your iPhone 3G on any network. It’s easy and it works! BUT there are loads of different types of hardware SIM now floating around on the internet, and most of them - like with the software unlocking companies *cough* site site site *cough* - are really rubbish products. They lack quality (reception, signal, phone call clarity, 3G issues) and some even require your cut your SIM card.

At iUnlock iPhone 3G, we have tried and tested over 20 variations of iPhone 3G SIM Unlocks, in order to provide you with the best solution. Our Unlock for iPhone 3G requires no cutting of your SIM, and there is no signal / reception problems at all! You will not even notice a difference. Our iPhone 3G Unlock ships worldwide, and you can get it for just £34.99 (there’s no need to update your hardware SIM, once you have it - it will keep your iPhone unlocked forever), this price includes access to The iArea, where you have access to thousands of iPhone Wallpapers, iPhone Themes, iPhone Downloads, iPhone Software and Premium 24 iPhone Support via our Ticket Support System.

I hope this clears up the iPhone 3G Unlocking Status for everybody.

Broadband From O2 – High Quality Service and Discounts for O2 Customers

September 29th, 2008
Caroline Telford asked:

Telefonica O2 Ireland Limited or more popularly known as O2 is known as an Ireland 3G and GSM mobile telecommunications operator. But its services are not only limited to Ireland but to the Great Britain too. Among the most sought-after services of the company in other parts of Europe is the O2 Broadband.

O2 Broadband and Special Internet Services

It was only in July 2007 when O2 launched the O2 mobile broadband using the technology called HSDPA over the company’s 3G network. The company is providing up to 3.6 megabits per second Internet speed and they say they are now servicing more or less 85 percent of the 3G network users.

So far, the company has started to upgrade its Internet speed. Some parts of Ireland are now enjoying up to 7.2 megabits per second of Internet speed. This development is expected to continue and become vaster than ever.

O2’s Mobile Broadband Services

O2 started and was known providing services for mobile phone users. Now, they even made mobile phone users happier with their service offered called as the O2 Mobile Broadband.

The O2 Mobile Broadband is not only available for Irish users but to United Kingdom residents also who are 18 years old and above. The service includes usage of up to 3 gigabytes of space per month which will be charged £0.20 per megabyte—that includes the value added tax. This service is also subject to status and minimum term contract.

Meanwhile, the Internet speed provided for the mobile phone users is also subject to the network coverage. The service is also good for 12 months. After that, standard broadband rates will apply.

O2 Broadband Services for Already O2 Customers

For those who have O2 Mobile Broadband connection, they can also enjoy other O2 broadband services at discounted prices. There are three O2 broadband services available for these customers. These are the Standard Package, Premium Package, and Unlimited Package.

The O2 Standard Broadband package offers up to 8 megabytes having 1.3 megabits per second upload speed. The cost for this service is £12.50 monthly but if the user is already an O2 customer, then the package will only cost £7.50 per month.

Meanwhile, the O2 Premium Broadband package can provide up to 20 megabytes of Internet speed for the customer and an upload speed up to 1.6 megabits per second. This service costs £15 a month for non-O2 customers and £10 for O2 customers.

Lastly, the O2 Ultimate Broadband package offers up to 20 megabytes of Internet speed and an upload speed 1.6 megabits per second. The premium package costs £20 per month but at a discounted price of £15 per month for O2 customers.

All these O2 broadband offerings also come with unlimited downloads, free 24/7 technical and customer support, email to clients’ mobile phones, 100 free SMS per month, and great email storage capacity. The three broadband services also have 12-month contract coverage. Customers also need to have a BT land line to have their O2 broadband connection.

Finding the Best O2 Deal

It is highly recommended that customers have their O2 Mobile Broadband connection first before taking other O2 broadband services. This way, customers can enjoy discounted O2 service prices as well as use of all potential features of the services like connecting the client’s computer to his mobile phone.

Those who are not yet O2 clients can also enjoy the O2 broadband services but with added value. Anyway, the speed and services are almost the same. It only differs on the cost of the various O2 broadband services.

3 Reasons the Iphone 3G Bags You a Brilliant Broadband Deal

September 27th, 2008
Shirley Stevens asked:

As the iPhone 3G is linked exclusively to O2 Broadband, there are huge advantages to owning one - not least that you’ll put yourself in line for arguably the best broadband deals currently available.

Here’s three reasons why bagging an iPhone 3G could be the best broadband decision you ever make:

1. Being an O2 mobile customers means you can get REALLY cheap O2 broadband

Owning an iPhone, whether on contract or Pay As You Go, entitles you to a sizeable discount on an O2 Broadband package, in addition to exceptionally fast and unlimited broadband at home and unlimited internet usage.

O2 Broadband’s enviable high-speed broadband packages (and we’re talking up to 20Mb here!0, when taken with O2 mobile contracts, ensure that you pay at least £60 a year less than you would pay for O2 broadband on its own through another mobile phone provider.

2. O2 broadband has a REALLY good reputation

O2 Broadband is one of the fastest broadband providers in the UK, besides being one of the cheapest, and considering the generous discount on broadband that O2 gives its mobile customers, it is streets ahead of its competitors - really no contest.

O2 Broadband’s packages comprise Standard 8Mb, Premium 16Mb and Ultimate 20Mb options and cost O2 mobile customers as little as £7.50, £10, and £15 a month respectively.

These packages really do offer amazingly good value when compared with other current favourites.

3. O2 Broadband offers LOTS of extras

O2 Broadband’s packages are all unlimited and also have a more generous fair use policy than most other providers.

This cuts out the possibility of having your connection throttled at the busiest times, and allows you to download music and movies for your iPhone pretty much at will.

Customer service is free and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For a limited time the connection charge is also free.

Believe it or not, there is a free wireless router thrown in with the O2 broadband package and by using the phone’s WiFi capabilities you are able to surf the internet on your iPhone, whenever you stumble across a wi-fi zone.

Generously, O2 Broadband comes with a 30 day money back guarantee, should you decide it is not for you. This lets you try it out for a reasonable time without any financial risk at all.

Considering the quality of the connection, we’re unsure anyway has ever had to cash in on this!

Conclusion

The O2 Broadband/iPhone 3G combination package, with its bargain prices, shouldn’t be missed by anyone who may be at the end of their current contract and is looking for a great broadband deal.

It would also suit anyone who wants to make full use of the unlimited internet usage to surf at home or on the move - as well as having a gorgeous gadget in your pocket!

The Cell Phone

September 25th, 2008
Cathy Peterson asked:

The cell phone industry has come a long way since the inception of the private use personal cellular phone. In the late eighties and very early nineties it was a huge deal if you had a corded cellular phone in your car. The personal cell phone had terrible reception and was so large that you couldn’t exactly put it your pocket for convenient usage. To look back now and compare the cell phone industry’s first amazing wonders with the sleek razor phones of today, the first cell phones were actually laughable, but of course we didn’t know it.

Cell phones operate on a basic frequency notion of cell sites and the use of handover to be competitive in the industry. Using technology that most people aren’t interested in provided it is working when they are using their cell phone, handover is at the heart of the cell phone competition craze to provide the network with “fewest dropped calls.”

While cell phone technology and even some cell phone usage has been around since the mid nineteen forties, most people hadn’t heard of the usefulness of a cell phone until the early to mid eighties, where cell phones were predominately car phones.

Cell phone technology has grown immensely since cell phone usage has hit a massive boom stemming from the late nineties to early two thousands that has increased the capability of the average cell phone. Cell phones were once upon a time utilized only for placing or receiving a phone call. Now they come with the ability to text and instant message, take pictures and videos, do math, download information and music from the internet, wake you up with their plethora of alarms, download e-mail, and perhaps in the next year or two they will be able to walk to the dog and do the dishes. Cell phone technology is advancing at an amazing rate in an attempt to annihilate cell phone competitors.

The boom in cell phone popularity has led to various cell phone related offshoots such as cell phone etiquette, cell phones for children, cell phone accessories, and of course, cell phone competitive plans. The ease and flexibility that a cell phone now provides is contributing to the slow but eventual downfall to land line services. In the United Kingdom, it has been reported that the number of working cell phones actually out number the latest census.

Cell phone technology has leapt forward and a tremendous growth has only led to more competition. It will be interesting to watch the cell phone industry continuously make improvements and create developments that will lead to more user friendly cell phone features.

What is a cell phone pouch and how it works:

The cell phone is a very delicate piece of equipment which requires maximum of protection which is available through a cell phone pouch. The cell phone pouch protects your cell phone from water, scratches, extreme temperatures and unnecessary falls. So if you use your cell phone pouch, you will be able to maintain your cell phone as though it was brand new.

What to look for while buying cell phone pouch:

You have to buy your cell phone pouch according to your whims and fancies. They are usually made of leather face and back, with clear plastic faces that are used to protect the keypad and screen, carrying strap and elastic sides that accommodate batteries of different sizes.

These cell phone pouches can be clipped to belts, jackets, pockets and purses. Not only do they ensure that your cell phone is within easy reach, you can also buy numerous cell phone pouches so that you can use them to match your mood and outfit.

When looking for a cell phone pouch, make sure that it is a durable one that protects your phone from dust and damage so that its functions are maintained. Without the cell phone pouch, it is very likely that your cell phone gets damaged by keys or sharp objects in your purse. Most of the cell phone pouches are made from leather; but there are some pouches made from neoprene that provides better protection from water.

The Big Question - Why Do We All Love Mobile Phones so Much?

September 19th, 2008
Matt Sharp asked:

There’s no doubt that mobile phones are amongst the top gadgets people want. But why do we have this love affair with mobile phones? When you get right down to it, what makes mobile phones so special?

From little acorns, big trees grow - The history of mobile phones

So, where did it all begin? Where did the rich variety of mobile phones we see in the world today actually come from? Well, the idea for a cellular-based system (the keystone of all modern mobile phones) was first proposed in December 1947, as a possible way of setting up wireless communications. It would go undeveloped, though, until the 60’s and 70’s. On top of that, the very first mobile phones are very definitely stone age compared to the modern breed. Before it all went digital, analogue phones were the standard (ones like the Motorola ‘Del-Boy’ phone), and they were unreliable, power-intensive, and weighed as much as a small town. But still, the potential was there, and when mobile phones went digital, they crossed the divide from yuppies’ toys into communication devices for everyone. We went from calls, to calls and text messages, to calls, text messages and the internet, to… well, who knows where we’ll go in future!

One word can sum up the state of mobile phones, though, and this is probably why, more than anything else, they’ve taken off so massively in the last few years: convergence. In other words, mobile phones do more than just phoning people, pulling in technology as disparate as music players and cameras. They do more, and therefore, you can do more with them. Let’s take a look a two of the biggest extra features that’ve made their way onto mobile phones, features that really have changed the game: music and cameras.

Music on your mobile phone - Into the 25th Century with the Nokia 5800

Without a doubt, music has been a massive success story in the world of mobile phones. The possibility of taking your music collection round with you, whilst NOT having to carry around a separate mp3 player, has meant that mobile phones have taken a huge foothold in this market. if you want an example of where they’re at now, look no further than the upcoming Nokia 5800, a touchscreen mobile phone that combines the best worlds of music, a neat 3 megapixel camera, built-in GPS and super-fast internet access. Basically, the Nokia 5800 really is a portable multimedia player in your hand, and given the amount of people interested in it, it’s fair to assume it shows that music is a big thing for mobile phones, especially since the Nokia 5800 is soon due to be available with Nokia’s Comes With Music service, specifically designed to blur the lines between mobile phones and music player further.

Make no mistake, putting music on mobile phones is big business, as the Nokia 5800 so eminently demonstrates!

Crash, bang, wallop, what a picture - the Sony Ericsson C905 shows the way for camera-equipped mobile phones

If the Nokia 5800 is blazing a trail in the world of music mobile phones, then one phone in particular is setting the camera phone world alight: the Sony Ericsson C905. There’s a very good reason why this is so: the Sony Ericsson C905 is one of the first mobile phones in the world to have an 8 megapixel camera, meaning that the mobile phone is now becoming a serious possibility for replacing your standalone camera. The simple reason people have taken to camera-equipped mobile phones in a big way is because they’re so much easier to carry about and grab snaps on the spur of the moment. The Sony Ericsson C905 takes that to new levels, meaning that spur of the moment photos from mobile phones are now rapidly reaching proper digital camera territory. Of course, the Sony Ericsson C905 also features GPS (the next big thing in mobile phones) and super-fast HSDPA internet (the other next big thing in mobile phones), but it’s the camera, like in so many mobile phones, that’s made it so popular.

Why Is IPod So Popular

September 16th, 2008
Dan Ionescu asked:

I have seen the bestseller list of Mp3 players for several big online retailers; the iPods were crushing the competition. The biggest Mp3 players sales were for Apple iPod nano 4 GB Silver (3G), Apple iPod classic 80 GB 6G (Black), Apple iPod nano 8 GB Black (3rd Generation), Apple 80 GB iPod classic Silver (6G) and Apple iPod touch 8 GB with Software Upgrade .

Apple’s iPod has dominated the portable audio market completely over the past few years. Giants like Sony and Microsoft where insignificant players in the mp3 players market.

But what makes iPods so special? Why are people crazy about them?

First let us see the current iPod product line-up (in 2008). The line-up includes the hard drive-based iPod classic, the touchscreen iPod touch, the video-capable iPod nano and the screenless iPod shuffle.

Design

“The product was elegantly designed in classic Apple fashion,” says David Carey, president of Portelligent.

Apple did product design from the outside in and that was one of the key factors for their success. This outside-in perspective helped determine a number of the components - battery, hard drive and circuit board - to be layered, one atop the next. That idea made the player look cooler and thinner.

Apple has successfully secured a design patent for its iPod digital music player. The United States Patent and Trademark Office on Tuesday issued Apple Computer a patent for the ornamental design of its third-generation (3G) iPod media player.

Functions

The new iPod includes an alarm clock function and the alarm sounds even if the iPod isn’t hooked to a stereo or headphones.

On-The-Go function allows you to listen to a particular group of songs on the iPod without connecting it to a computer.

Equalizer function. iPod software allow you to control the equalization or “EQ” of a song, you can assign that song one of 22 equalizer presets. Once you assign a preset to a song, iTunes will use it each time you play the song. When you copy the song from your computer to iPod, the equalizer preset you chose in iTunes is also copied, and iPod will play the song with the same preset.

Smart format function. If the iPod is formatted on a Mac OS X computer it uses the HFS+ file system format, which means you can use it as a boot disk for a Mac computer. If it is formatted on Windows, the FAT32 format is used.

Sound quality

iPod has one of highest sound quality for a Mp3/4 player. If you want to get better sound quality it is a smart idea to purchase optional headphones, which can deliver even more accurate sound than the recognizable white earbuds that come with an iPod.

Controls

The controls are backlit and touch sensitive. There is no longer a spinning wheel that collects dirt.

HDD

The HDDs for the iPods are huge: Apple iPod classic has an 80GB HDD; the new Apple iPod nano has an 8GB HDD and Apple iPod Video has a 30GB hard drive. The king for now is the new Apple iPod classic with 160GB (holds up to 40,000 songs).

Of course you will find iPods with smaller hard disks like iPod nano (4GB, 2GB) and iPod shuffle with just 1GB.

Battery life

The iPod uses the latest lithium ion battery technology from the leading battery manufacturers, such as Sony and Sanyo. When new and fully charged, the battery provides up to 8 or 12 hours of battery life, depending on your model.

Marketing

Apple marketing team was smart and used the iPod brand well. Apple Ipod had a successful advertising campaign comprising of magazine and television advertisements focusing on the target market (teenagers and young adults). Promotions. Apple iPod used a direct method to induce customers to purchase their product by offering any iPod accessory per customer for half the value price with every purchase of a new Apple iPod. This method allowed the business to directly measure the success of the campaign by observing the sales rate of the promotional tool.

The correct marketing approach made people fell in love with the iPod and offered a fantastic experience. Apple didn’t build just a brand, they have built a lovemark.

Conclusion

All iPods look great and use the latest technologies; they are very smart and trendy gadgets so almost everyone wants to have one.

Apple created a great product and used the correct marketing approach making iPod a lovemark.

So why are iPods so popular? The Apple Ceo, Steve Jobs has the answer: “With iPod, Apple has invented a whole new category of digital music player that lets you put your entire music collection in your pocket and listen to it wherever you go,” the Apple CEO said when he introduced the product in October 2001. “With iPod, listening to music will never be the same again.”

Seven Tips To Avoid iPod Repair

September 15th, 2008
Jason Cox asked:

When spending a lot of money on pleasure components like an iPod, life gets a huge kink in it when iPod breaks down. Everyone knows the convenience of the iPod makes listening to music easy when doing practically anything. Instead of going out and buying a new iPod, consider trying some other ideas. Here are some tips that may put the dance back in your step, letting you avoid repairing your iPod by a professional iPod repairman.

First, you should obviously use a hard protective case to avoid scratching the screen of your iPod. The hard cases are better because if you drop your iPod while in a hard case in water, your iPod is usually protected in up to three feet. Plus, if you drop your iPod, a hard case help protect your device from sustaining damage to its internal devices, which are necessary for proper function, and external cosmetic damage to your iPod.

Second, Dont use your pockets, backpacks, or a purse to carry your iPod tunes. LDC screens are pliable under pressure, which is easily created if you bend down, sit down, sit on your backpack or purse or if you fall down. This will put pressure on your iPod, which can bend or crack your LCD screen. You might also think of your screen when left in your car such as extreme heat or cold.

Next, you should always avoid pulling, wrapping, or causing any other type of tension to the cord attached to your headphones. This can break your headphone sockets. Avoid letting your wires get tangled up when you are not using your iPod. You would not want a short in your headphone wires. It would also be totally inconvenient having to untangle your headphones each time you go to use them. Another tip is if your iPod does not boot up as it usually does, you might try charging it. Sometimes, when you are to low on juice your iPod cant boot up.

Also, when you buy your iPod, you could also purchase an extra battery and battery replacement kit. This is ideal for when your battery dies. You dont have to go anywhere to replace it. The average iPod battery takes about three hours to fully charge. What if your iPod would not shut down? You have checked that the hold switch is turned off, and you know your battery is fully charged, and then you need to reset your iPod, deplete your battery all the way, and then update your iPod.

Another tip is that you should also check for regular updates for your iPod, just like your home computer. You want it to continue to work properly. If the LDC screen on the front of your iPod shows a not so happy face, this means that you should check that the requirements for your iPod match your computer. If so, try to restore your iPod by putting it in disc mode and then restore. Remember restoring your iPod is not the same as updating. Make sure you back up your music files before you restore. To update plug your iPod into your computer and down load the newest version of iPod updater. You could try plugging your iPod into a different fire wire or USB port connecting to your computer. Then restart your computer, and reinstall your iPod or iTunes software.

To check your iPods hard drive for errors, run the scan disk feature. If the face with an upside down smile comes up then the problem cant be fixed at home.

Last, if you are constantly on the go, running, skating, dancing, and your iPod is always being jarred around, you might have a problem. Your iPods internal protection function will come on, which will freeze your iPod up. Fix your frozen iPod, hold the select and the menu button at the same time. If you have an older iPod, hold the play button down for a few moments, which should repair your iPod issue.

These are only a few basic ways to avoid iPod repairs. For a more in-depth look into solutions, most companies have websites, which corresponds with the brand of iPod you own. If you iPod is still under warranty and you are still having problems, return your iPod to the manufacture that can exchange it for a new one.
